Year of Establishment of the Centre … 2009.   


The Centre was establishment in the year 2009 and inaugurated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Hon’bleChief Minister Himachal Pradesh on 25th June 2009.


Facilities:  Publication: All Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Publications for Sale.

Facilities of Artists: Every year, the center organizes several activates for the promotion of art around the region by organizing Arts Events Camps, Workshop, Demonstration, Exhibition and Seminars etc.  Many of these programmes of the Centre are organized in collaboration with different art institutions and organizations & a guest house to accommodate the artist during their stay at Shimla has come up at Craig- Garden this center & can be reached by foot enjoying heritage walk along the world famous Mall Road & its beautiful surroundings.


Highlights of the Building of the Center: -The Centre is located in the middle floor of the newly/recently renovated Gaiety Theatre Complex (Heritage Building) in Victorian Gothic Architecture; Situated in the world famous The Mall, location of Shimla Town.

In its façade, Mandi Stone has been used and the same has been carved to the old patterns. The Structure has been restored maintaining its glory in Victorian Gothic Architecture and lime Surkhi mortar has been used during its renovation. The Renovation process was initiated during the year 2003 &the complex was put to its parental use in the year 2009.  The renovation work has been executed by Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department in Consultation with renewed conservation Architect Sh. VedSegan, Strictly as per heritage norms and specifications.

The portion of this Centre has been strengthened by using some specific retrofitting arrangements like grouting of walks in Lima Surkhi mortar, providing carbon fiber/ glass fiber treatment over weekend structural parts, recasting the damaged vaults/ arches, wooden floorings and beautiful heritage pattern tiles etc.
