Title of Work: Ghazal-1

The work is a part of my series titled ‘Ghazal’. It is based on Ghalib’s verse and is the visuality of the same. His poetry I feel has been a source of inspiration and my work is the aesthetics of poetic depiction in visual translation through art. That is also the subject of my research and reflects in my art. This particular award-winning work is a depiction of despair through the image of a woman experiencing life. I have derived my inspiration from four of Ghalib’ scouplets using the technique of egg tempera on board. I have built up thin glazes of colour and purposely created small works because it had to be intimate and connected so that content of poetry is somewhat demysti.
