Born in Chennai, the artist is an alumnus of the Govt College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. He has been awarded with the State Award two times and obtained a research grant from the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. He has participated at several national exhibitions, state exhibitions, and annual exhibitions of the Chitrakala Parishad and Vinyasa Art Gallery, Chennai. He has held group shows at the Nehru Centre Mumbai, (2009), Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai (2010), and in Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi. His works are in collections at Government museums, State Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Bharat Bhawan Bhopal, and private collections. The artist lives and works in Thiruninravur.

S K Srinivasan:The National Award means much more than any other award that I have won. Several galleries came forward when I won the earlier awards and in this case the single piece of my work encapsulates my entire technique. The Lalit Kala Akademi is a prestigious platform and I am sure there will be huge benefits to follow for me and my art .
